The NECON Obesity Prevention & Control Working Group invites you to attend a special session of New England legislators, policy makers and advocates to respond to a draft of the NECON
strategic plan for addressing the obesity epidemic in our region.
The Forum will be guided by Dr. Walter Willett, Professor of Epidemiology and Chair, Harvard
School of Public Health, Dept. of Nutrition. The event is generously sponsored by the US Dept. of Health and Human Services and Abbott Laboratories. The NECON plan would increase the
proportion of each state's population that consumes a nutritionally appropriate diet and is engaged in daily physical activity. The Final draft will be presented to the New England governors
in September 2003, as we seek their leadership in the quest.
If you plan to attend the Forum, please register online or by fax before January 31, 2003.
While there is no registration fee, the number of attendees is limited. Because we have to plan for lunch we cannot accept walk-in registrations. If you have any questions, please contact
Michelle Akacki or Linda Downing at 781-239-8242.
