NECON Mental Health Task Force Meeting

Actuarial Sciences Associates, Inc.
Wellesley, MA

The major focus of this meeting was stories of prevention success in MA, VT and ME.

  • Charles Biff Director, VT Children's Mental Health Services described VT's two-year experience with early childhood prevention in day care sites.
  • Michael Norton Director, Behavioral Health, MA Medicaid described two programs of prevention: addressing depression in primary care settings and promoting health care for persons with serious mental illness.
  • William Lowenstein Education Specialist, ME DMHMRSAS described his experience in designing and implementing substance abuse prevention and promotion efforts in ME.

It is hoped that these stories of successful outcomes provided evidence of grass roots applications of prevention and promotion in New England, and real life examples to the recommendations of our report, Prevention: The Time Is Now.
