The American Heart Association, New England AffiliateThis year's conference developed specific recommendations for regional collaboration among
managed care and public health organizations, targeted to prevention in defined areas of need. Last year's conference centered around the work of five regional task forces: Heart, Cancer,
HIV/AIDS, Latino Health, Women's Health and Managed Care. This year's conference built on the work of these working groups and added five more: Long-Term Care, Workforce Issues,
Pediatric Asthma, Diabetes, Tobacco Control and Adult Immunization. We are pleased to note that in the past year DHHS and NECON have sponsored two state
health action forums -- in Rhode Island and New Hampshire -- to develop resources for state-based implementation of conference recommendations. We will sponsor similar forums in the remaining New England States. |
